Today it is World Oceans Day. With the launch of our new assortment in March this year, we teamed up with the organization Milkywire to support one of their impactors Tomas Eriksson, who through his project Pelagiska collects plastic waste from the Swedish west coast archipelago.
The bottles in our new bath and body assortment are made with 100% recycled plastic.
To showcase what happens with plastic if you DON'T recycle it, Tomas sent us waste he gathered during one of his collecting rounds. We then teamed up with artist Anna Lewenhaupt and made artworks combining nature and the plastic waste we received from Tomas.
We named the artwork 'Summer Memories': the bags contained plastic bottles, cutlery and even a breadbasket. It was as if someone had emptied a garbage bag from summer outings.
This summer, take care of your waste and recycling before it ends up in the sea and nature.
Here are some little helpers for what you can do:
- Bring an extra bag with you and spend 10 minutes of your outdoor time picking spiled plastic.
- Always carry your take away water bottle, take away mug and recyclable straw in your bag. Not buying single used plastics and virgin plastic is key!
- We made a tote bag using Reused and Remades, a company that has a patent-pending solution that up-cycles discarded hotel bedlinen and turns them into textile bags.
